I saw a moose

Ben wrote a story In class last week:
With no scanner the best I can do is a picture from my phone.

Yesterday he asked me to play football with him after school. So when we Arrived back to the camper I put my things away and grabbed the football. But Ben was busy reading a book! So I little later, he was Still reading a book. And this morning when I was trying to shoo everyone out the door, he was still reading! Can you imagine!? :))
It must be a really good book.

One Act Play

Sunday we had a special treat of watching our nephew Matt play the lead in the schools production of "the happy scarecrow". Ben was beaming when it was over! He knew a star.

Sp break day 5

Grabbed Matt - boys were stoked to hang out with him for the day.
Took the non-motorized boats to Possum Kingdom lake and had a wonderful time!
We love this kid!

Sp Break day 4

Today we took out Tipsy Too.
We saw turtles, birds, squirrels, ducks, a blue heron, a dead critter on a log, some cows that caught us off guard, a snake, and CLOUDY saw crocodiles. Yes, two. Of course, no one else saw these sly creatures of the murky water, but he insisted he did and pleaded with us to turn around. I had a close encounter with a frog (IN the canoe!). I don't much like CLOSE encounters with frogs. Thankfully we were still somewhat in shallows and I didn't dump us in the drink before extracting the amphibian from our vessel.

Sp Break day 3

We had a lazy day today. The boys and I bummed around this morning reading books and watching PBS. Later we hit a matinee to watch Dr Suess: Lorax.

It was ok.

Ben laughed along with all the other kids. Cloudy was terrified of the previews: they were all zombie and frankenwiener (real movie). He was not impressed. I, on the other hand, missed my own theater. I zoned in on the annoying sound of everyone eating popcorn around me and the sound never went away! For 85+ min the only sound I heard was crunching of popcorn. Grr. I miss my private theater.

Spring break day 2

This morning we woke up at 0'dark:30 and left Pete sleeping in the camper. I took the boys (and the girls) down to Taylor to see my grandma. We had a great time with her! After a lunch date we sat outside and watched for birds while my mischievous boys plucked roses! TEXAS sized roses. They were impossibly large, and not fully bloomed. I need roses like that.
The boys did well all morning but by 1:00 I could see the end of their rope so we loaded up and headed back to ft worth.
(the appliquéd bowtie shirts are compliments of Aunt Tammy. Thanks Aunt Tammy the boys love them)

Spring Break day 1

First - this weekend we headed to Abilene and had a great time. Ben was super stoked to finally see Matt!

Today, we headed to Founder Plaza at the DFW airport. It's located right at the end of runways 18L and 18R, and their is a loud speaker that plays the air
Traffic controller communications. The boys and I stayed and watched the planes coming in and leaving during lunch. Definitely something we will go back to. Afterwards we found a great Nature Park to walk around. I have lots of photos, unfortunately they are still on my camera.
But the winner for the day was a phone call from our friend, Wes! The boys were so excited about that phone call! Thanks Nikki for having him call.

2nd First Day of First Grade

Ben started his new school yesterday, and he was full of smiles and stories when I picked him up.  He was amazed that a lot of kids knew his name, kids that weren't even in his class.
He was disappointed that he only has 1 recess, where at Trumble he had 2.  But was stoked he was awesome at basketball during PE.  And there is Snack time in 1st grade (apparently b/f  class starts - which reminds me now - i didn't send a snack with Ben -- oops).

weekend shenanigans

Pete couldn't stand it anymore -- weather in the 70s and he hadn't been to water yet.  Sunday we took out the Tangerine Peril and Tipsy Too to Lake Worth.

Saturday we drove down to see my Grandma!  She's doing GREAT!

Friday we had one of those impulse purchases.. We bought a kite! and the boys are having a blast with it.

A picture of them at the Fort Worth Zoo early last week.

Yesterday Ben asked how money was made, so today I took him to the Federal Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Haslet (ft worth). We learned a lot! Dollar notes are only made in two locations: ft worth and DC. 60% of our Currency goes overseas.   Crane Co, the same stationary company makes all the "paper" the notes are made of. It's not paper but a cloth. Star notes are the replacement notes that were found defective after a serial number was printed. Every bill that is printed in Fort Worth has a FW on it. There were no free samples. :-(

While we were at the hour plus tour, where no camera or cell phones are allowed, Pete was desperately trying to get in touch with me so we could finalize our house offer.

The house we are getting is AMAZING! Perfect for our family!
We also found a great park in Roanoke where my guys like to play.

This afternoon we attended Brittany's track meet. She smoked the 2mi with a 13:58 time and came in first sprinting at the end. Her 1 mi was an easy 6:35 with a great kick at the end, again placing first! We were so happy to see her races, and looking forward to the next ones.
