Tuesday nights are swim lessons, and by the time class is over and we come home, rush the kids through bedtime routine it's usually a few minutes past 8:30. Since we always run low on time, we skip the bedtime book. Tonight the boys were devastated! We've been reading a chapter or two of Alvin Ho plus a book or two that Cloudy picks. We had full body convulsions when they realized there was not going to be reading time tonight. Ben thrashed around so much if I was to put some music to it - we could call it dancing.
Pete reconciled the situation by offering breakfast reading IF we wake in time (that's a very very big IF statement - we NEVER wake in time). Lights went out and not a peep was heard from the room. *good sign?*

I just walked in to the boys room to tuck them in on my way to retire for the evening and Sneaky-little-Cloudy had TWO books hiding under the covers that he was clutching. Maybe they are his choices for breakfast reading, or maybe he was trying to read them in the dark. Either way, it was cute to see him snuggled up to a book (or 2).

On side notes:
  • Ben has learned the irritating art of..... wait for it...... Fake laughing.
  • After telling Cloudy we would do something, he asked "pinky promise". You're 2 - who taught you what Pinky Promise is? One guess: he's young, in first grade, and loves to teach his brother.
  • Cloudy is having issues with enunciating /tr/, it comes out /f/ - three and tree become free. When Ben was little he liked to point out the water towers and cranes while driving down the road. Cloudy likes to point out the trucks.

park fun on a C.O.L.D. day

Went out to the state park today with Christy, Breanna and Nate! We had a great time. We started with a little ice skating.. They are all NATURALS!
Christy - multi-tasking!

One speed Nate -- FASTer!

I cant even count the number of times Breanna lapped Ben and me.

We had a frozen time... I mean FUN.. frozen fun..

After ice fun - we headed in and the kids took off in the tunnels... Dave brought the boys out and they was just a mass amount of running going on... We ended up with a sleeper on the way home.. and imagine - we didn't have much fight when it came to bed time.

Clouds has become a little turkey in front of the lens. I guess he has figured out my lens and I are not going away.

LOVE it when Ben reads to Cloudy

This weekend we had unseasonably nice weather (still!) so we hit the park to run off steam ...

**physics lessons on the teetor totters...

When I help clean up in Ben and Cloudy's room I don't mind chunking most of the toys into the toy box.
However, when it comes to Buzz and Woody, I always make sure Woody has his hat and I gently place them in.

We've really had some incredible weather recently (for Nebraska/ for January).
Last Thursday it was low-60s, and while I was ditched by Ben so he could go play at a friends house, Cloudy and I (well more "I") played sidewalk chalk all afternoon... And when Ben returned home I found out he sat inside on a SIXTY degree afternoon playing video games!! Crazy kid.
Yesterday it was only upper40s and we rode our bikes to DQ to enjoy in some mini-blizzards. Ben earned one through the school for reading 6 books over the holiday. As we sat outside eating our ice cream - it started to cool off more, by the time we rode home, we were FREEZING.
some pictures of Cloudy bear..

Penguin Celebration for 2012

The Butlers invited us over for NYE and we.... ate too much.
3 days later and I am still full.
Clouds has been walking around in a funk for several days.. but he managed to pull himself together, and even enjoy his time with Nate and Breanna. Ben - well - just get him near Nate and good luck trying to have him sit still.

a few unauthorized pile-ons took place..

Christy pulled out the time charts and they figured out if we celebrated at 8:00 we could ring in 2012 with South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands - and since there are no residence in So Georgia - we celebrated with the penguins.

(did i mention it was a low key, informal, gathering - please do not judge us: Pete with his Capt Hammer shirt, Ben in his campfire garb, and my usual: the old trusty hoodie - I seriously can't help it! I get cold!) *grin*

On Monday - our last day of Holiday - we busted out the DDR!
I wish my flash would've fired for this one -- it's a perfect shot - everyone with the same stance (even Cloudy in the corner). I guess I'll just have to love the blur.

As if I hadn't tortured the kids enough this holiday -- I knitted beards. I had Ben try it on and was laughing so hard, it made him self conscious.. now he refuses to wear it. Pete swears he will wear one though.. and I intend on making a gray one for my aging brother.
I saw a Santa hat with a white beard for sale - I think it might be something I have to knit!! I also think a viking beard may be uber cute... if only I can convince Ben!
