wooo what a weekend

Friday Cloudy and I met up with Christy to watch Breanna in a school FLASH MOB! It was fabulous! (Breanna is the blondie in the middle).
On Saturday we rode our bikes up to the high school and watched part of Nate's football game. He did an awesome job.
When we returned home we were bumming around the house and I asked Cloudy if he wanted to watch TV with me, and he jumped at the opportunity. Expecting to hear "ELMO ELMO" I was thrilled and surprised to hear him chant "FOOTBALL FOOTBALL!" I could not deny the boy - so we watched lots of football while Pete worked. Since it was a lazy Saturday we went out to eat and again I asked for input from the boys - and again Cloudy wins with PIZZA PIZZA. (Football and Pizza what else can a boy ask for!?)

And the winner is....

This morning I went to the store and bought one of these..
The cover I had started didn't fit AT ALL... so I did some alterations.. and it barely floated...

More altering and I finally got it to float...

We dressed up and went to the high school after a few photos...

Cloudy LOVED LOVED LOVED all the "mon-mons", Elmo's, and Woody!
And he quickly figured out the routine of receiving candy.

We made pumpkins (which we later use for pies!!)

They both entered the costume contest and Cloudy walked away a winner.... Ben was a bit upset he didn't win his age division this year (2 out of 4 isn't bad though)

We went camping this weekend and had a wonderful time.
We headed out right after school on Friday and Wes stayed the evening and night with us. We had a blast! The boys wore mustaches, played at the park, and watched a movie projected on the camper next to us! Talk about camping in style. Then in the middle of the night - Ben slipped out of his bunk, sleeping bag and all and ker-plunked on the floor pretty hard. He hurt, but can you believe he never really woke up. Weirdest kid ever!
Saturday I dropped Pete and Dave 5 miles up the Platte and they canoed back to the campsite. They said it was a great time and tried to convince Nikki and I to take a turn, fortunately Nikki "doesn't paddle" so I was safe. The kids went on adventures through the woods, and played on the bounce house. The adults fixed one heck of a feast. Dave smoked amazing ribs, and we made beans, and hashbrown casserole, and broccoli salad -- followed by a homemade pumpkin pie (can not included). Needless to say we were ILL. AND we had it for lunch today!

More weekend photos..

Run Jenni Run!

If you didn't know, Jenn's in San Francisco this weekend running the Nike Women's Marathon in support of LLS. You can check her progress here... (Bib # 22293) So far it looks like she's doing great!

As soon as Mom was gone, the first thing Ben did was make a list of things the guys should do...

Go to a playground... Check.

Ben and Cloudy both loved playing in the tires.

The number one request on Ben's list was to go camping. What he really wanted to do was go "tent camping". It's hard to believe that he's six years old, and had never camped in a tent before. Sure he's camped in the pop-up and camper more times than I could count, but never tent camping.. So we found a campground (one near a playground of course) and away we went.
Ben picked our menu for the weekend, so we got to eat Mini-Hamburgers for supper, and Donuts, Eggs, and Bacon for Breakfast. Yum!

Of course sleeping was not on his list of things to do... He even updated his list to say "no sleeping". When he got tired though, he was ready to crash.. Cloudy, however, was not so happy with the idea of sleeping in a tent. Ben was annoyed and told him several times "stop it Cloudy, I'm trying to sleep". Cloudy woke me up this morning in a very fussy mood to tell me "I want Mommy!"
I told him, "Me, too".

When I should be packing for my trip to SF this weekend for the big 26.2, I find myself sucked in to Halloween costumes. The famous word around our house is procrastination, and we didn't fail again this year. 2 weeks out and just yesterday pinned down a few ideas. Cloudys is in the works today.
Did you know you could buy a 36" balloon (don't try it unless you have an SUV to load it in. It will not fit through a car door. It barely fits thru the house door!
I thought using a balloon for my form would be great - until I stuck a pin in it... Oops. Luckily I was 2/3 done pinning so I aired up my exercise ball and used that (significantly smaller!) and guesstimated the last pins.
Going to be cute!

late season ski runs

We are huge procrastinators in our house... Every year we wait as long as possible to winterize the boat in hopes of late season ski runs.
Last week - we got them! We went out 3 times to the lake, and had an amazing time. 3 out of 4 of us went up on skis.
As a treat when Ben skis we like to stop at Zestos. Sunday it was even too late in the season for Zestos, so we settled for a bike ride to DQ.
