One down 12 to go
Pictures: first day of school and last day if school
Ben is officially a first grader!
Today was his last day of school as a kindergartener. It's amazing to watch him grow and learn: he grew 3-3/4inches since August! And he reads darn near a second grade level!

Ben's Kindergarten Field Trip
Ben went on his first field trip yesterday to Gifford Farm, and I was lucky enough to go along. The weather held out for about 2 hrs and before the storm hit just as we rushed the kids back on the bus. All the parents got soaked running back to their cars.
The kids got to see lots of farm animals, and even got to pet a few.
I thought that the sheep were going to be my favorite... but when I saw the little pig my heart cracked. He fell from a truck and the humane society rescued him and nursed him back to health. He now has the life of a rock star at his new home. He's SO adorable!

Best part -- School Bus!

Catyak day3
Three days owning the Catyak and three days it's been on the water. The first day it was too windy, the second day it was too calm, today it was just right (sound familiar?). Or maybe we just figured it out by now. Even Ben sailed us around the lake today - he's an amazing kid! I'm sure he will be better at it then either of his parents pretty soon.

new toys
Last night - we were walking around Canfields... and they have the BEST camping gear of any store.
After walking around and around and .. around again.. I found something I had to have. A hammock. Pete set it up on the deck - and the boys couldn't stand to stay out of it... This will definitely be going in the camper.

Then there's Pete's garage sale find of the season.

middle of may ALREADY
Last weekend we went camping (to no surprise - and I'm sure for the next few months all the blogs after a weekend will start to sound the same: camping, skiing, exhausted). The water was still wicked cold - but we braved it and everyone big enough to hold a ski rope did. Ben was stoked to ski this year, and is already planning to learn a deep water start (this makes mom VERY happy). I tried out my new trick skis and they are definitely tricky. Not sure it was the best idea to try them when the water was so cold. I did manage to get up a few times.. but by the time I climbed out of the water my feet were WHITE and numb. eek
There's only a few more weeks of school left - and Benjamin will be a first grader! It's amazing to see the changes in him from just last year to now. I forget sometimes he won't always be a little fellow. Cloudy - well he's a different story. The past few days I've been having him repeat words for me - and he'll try his best and be mostly successful, but if we don't insist on him talking he won't. And most of the time when he does say something not on request - we can't understand him. But he gets his point across - and nothing is sweeter than his hugs and kisses, over and over and over until we are a slobbery mess.

Kindergarten Program
This is what happens if our t.v. turns on.. doesn't matter if its Electric Company or the 4o'clock news.
The Kindergarten A to Z program was today. They had two showing times and wow was it cute. How can a group of 50+ five to six yr old kids singing songs NOT be cute?
My favorite songs would've been "If you wanna be an Easter Egg..", "Turkey Tango", and "Muddle Puddle jumped on me"
We managed to record most of it - so maybe soon we will have a little video to provide for you viewing pleasure.. It's been a while since we've entertained our reading group with a decent video.
