We cancelled our tv service over the winter. We realized we only watched over the air channels... And by watching I mean recording shows for a later date. Pete hooked us up with a dvr box in the theater that records our shows since we would never have time to watch them when they actually air.
When Ben watches a show it's usually something we've recorded from PBS. So if he needs to run an errand he can pause it. Today when we were upstairs he threw a hissy fit (yes a hissy fit) that he didn't understand why all TVs didnt have "pausers".
Like he's going to Be completely destroyed if he misses 2 minutes of the Electric Company.

Spring? I think NOT

Thursday we had wonderful mid 70s weather - and Friday we woke up to 4 inches of the white stuff!
No fun!

But what is fun - NERF gun wars! Even Cloudy got involved!

Monday we had our Parent Teacher Student conference for the 3rd Quarter and Mrs Johnson had nothing but great things to say about Benjamin. He is well above his reading level; kindergarten reads A-C and Benjamin is past level E. What's great about this, is in First grade, they will automatically start him at his highest level and continue from there.

Ben's haircut

Ben decided that he wanted his haircut - he picked out this style and loves it.. Even the lady that has been cutting his hair for the past two years had a hard time cutting it. I think it will take me a few days to get over it.

First stalker

Ben has his first official stalker. Today we walked from School and Amara had her dad track us down to ask if she could Come Play.

I already feel a little uneasy when they are playing in the bedroom with the door closed. Hahahaha. But it's so amazing to have a house full of giggles and screams!

Cloudys New word

Monster Ben:

Yesterday Ben was sent home from school because his cheeks were flushed and his eyes were leaky. He said he felt fine, and the nurse checked for a temp and found a normal 98. So we left school and headed out for ice cream. It was nice to have an hour of just Ben time. We drove down to the duck ponds and sat on the rocks as we ate our ice cream and searched for fish and turtles.
I know if kids have a fever they aren't allowed to return to school within 24hrs. I'm not sure of the rules if they are sent home b/c the look sick - if its ok to send them to school the next day - even if the 'rash' is still around, so Ben went to school.
(The best we can figure is MAYBE it's Fifth disease - which is no more than a fever/cold and when the rash appears it's no longer contagious).

This is Cloudys 'no no' face - I get this face a LOT

But it's this one that melts me

With the overhaul of our schedule - I'm still trying to find a balance. For now we are way behind on blogs, pictures, movies, and sleep (that's my fault though - well I could blame Nikki I suppose)

There's a movie that was posted earlier - if you rely on the emails for blog updates, the email looked empty. If you want to see the video of Cloudy saying Here Ya Go - you will have to venture out to the blog.

A few weeks ago we had a Star Wars-athon. And for several days that's all Ben would talk about. In Episode 1: The Phantom Menance there is a fight scene where Qui-Gon Jinn dies at the hand of Darth Maul who is later killed by Obi-Wan.
Enter Ben: We were driving down the road and he asked me who the guy was that died. We could only come up with the names Obi-Wan and Darth Maul. So Ben decided that maybe the other guys name was .....
(I laughed for 3 miles)

Ben is terribly excited about summer. He talks everyday about going somewhere, mostly Texas, but somewhere. He can't wait to go camping and try out his ladder that he helped his dad make for his bunk in the camper. And every day on the walk home he asks if Amara can come play. Amara is a little girl that lives up the road. Extremly cute, and sweet. And when Amara sees us walking she ducks her head out the window and yells "HI BEN!"

Today I was asking Ben to help pick up toys before supper and put them away. And to my surprise Cloudy jumped up and grabbed the toys and started trucking them to the playroom. I don't know why but I haven't bothered starting asking Clouds yet, guess that's about to change. He's doing really really well with his big boy undies. He only had to changed undies once ALL day yesterday! When he does GO on the potty he recieves stickers - and GOOD LORD he is so Proud of his stickers.
Three new RECOGNIZABLE words that have emerged in the past 3 days: Sticker, cookie, Pickle!

W week

This week Ben is snack helper for his class. We FORGOT on Monday - LAME! But we made up for it today with Waffle cone bowls with frozen yogurt! MMmmmm. Some kids even declared it the BEST snack yet. I guess that would make it a Winner. We still have gummy Worms and hoping the Weather cooperates and Friday we can have Watermelon! Cloudy has started dayschool. Tuesday was his first day and he did great. He will be going 3 days a week until summer. I'm hoping this will help with his speech; hearing and seeing other kids his age. He had his 18mo well-check on Monday and OTHER than his speech he's doing wonderfully. Our pediatrician doesn't seem worried yet. He offered some peace when he said he sees it quiet often with little boys. He is still considered speech delayed - but since there has been improvement in the past 6 months he suggests we wait until his 2yr well check b/f calling a Speech Therapist.

happy birthday dr. seuss

I find it amazing when Ben sits down to read and completes the entire book by himself.
It's Dr Seuss's birthday week - and the schools are participating in shananigans all week long. Ben also brought home a new reader chart. After reading for 15min - he colors in a section - when all the sections are completed he returns it to school and recieves a free personal pizza. So between the two things going on he decided to sit down and read Cat in the Hat, and read all 60+ pages solo... SO PROUD!

Cloudy pants

My little rascal is growing up pretty fast. He's unbelievably smart, and ooooh so cute. Potty training is going really well FOR 18MO OLD. He has even told us a few times that he either needs to go, or has had an 'ut-oh'. He's always in undies when we are at the house, I'm just not confident enough to take him out yet. Next week is a new milestone for us, he starts dayschool, and I have to say I'm a little more reluctant than I was with Benjamin. We love the school, or we did when Ben went there, and I'm sure he'll do fantastic. Maybe it will even help him start talking. So far, his words include: ball, mommy, daddy, beh (ben), dog, peepee, and UP... all other communications are asked by us and head nodding by him.

I think his little undies are ADORABLE!
